Thika Police show incompetence after arresting university ladies

Thika Police Officers were recently involved in a most bizarre case after arresting some citizens at around 10pm during a recent weekend.

We may have talked about Police leasing out their guns to criminals, colluding with thugs and basic negligence, but the following case takes the cake in terms of police-stupidity.

Recently, six (6) university students were arrested as they were on their way to Porkies Garden on a Friday evening. Two Students were from JKUAT while the remaining four study at the USIU and had paid a visit to their counterparts who reside in Juja.

After a couple of drinks in the house, the 6 decided to while the night away at the Porkies Garden disco, and boarded a matatu headed to Thika. They were dropped off at Thika Arcade and were arrested while walking past the Standard Chartered Bank in Thika.

The officers who arrested them did not want to hear anything, or even accept a cash-bail. They were booked in for “loiterring & prostitution” and had to spend the night at the Thika Police Cells.

But what was most shocking was the morning after, one of the Police officers who spear-headed their arrest shamelessly asked for one of the lady’s phone number.

“Si unipatie namba yako tukutane baadaye?” (Give me your number so that we can hook up later). The lady was so furious and told him to forget about it. Then the cop proceeded to issue threats to the effect that “nikikuona tena, nitakushika na utakaa weekend mzima,” (I will arrest you and you will be locked in for a whole weekend).

The lady told him to do as he threatened, even though the whole group said that they will never return back to Thika after that horrific incident.

Surely, instead of this policemen going to battle crime at Makongeni and the rest of Thika, their work is to peddle freedom in exchange for sex? Shame on the concerned policemen!
